As the second chapter of this extended project which represents "What it is, what it has been" takes shape Cartography of freedom (Prison, economy, and freedom). At this stage, Reynier Leyva Novo examines discursively and historically the concept of freedom from the multiple enclaves of the Cuban nation. The mapping practice functions here as an open question, the putting into a crisis of the official model of history, a mythology in which civil and political rights are deliberately omitted from the set of meanings associated with the significant freedom. Novo not only disrupts the hierarchical order of the voices that graph these other writings - the people as a homogeneous construct vs the citizen subject to rights; the institutional narrative vs individual memory-, but rather delves into the emptied and instrumental territory of the post-59 Cuban regime.
